Integration of church and state

The San Francisco Chronicle details some of the many instances of the Bush/Republican Party manner of using the church as a political pulpit, including beaming a big burning Bush to the Southern Baptist Convention (big fans of the Marriage Amendment–who’d have guessed?) and the unsuccessful inclusion of the “Safe Harbor for Churches” provision that would have made it easier for churches to endorse and financially support candidates without losing their tax exemption.
The whole separation of church and state thing is so murky. Makes one wonder, WWJD?
