The Los Angeles Times documents how a Berkeley rabble-rouser is taking on Wal-Mart in the largest class action suit in the world.
Most interesting take-away: The suit probably wouldn’t be possible without the Internet, because lots of the documents–1.5million pages so far–can be stored online rather than shipped around, and communication between the lawyers and law firms involved is a lot cheaper using email than conference calling or flying in for meetings.
It is unlikely that any decision in the case will happen before 2008, unless Wal-Mart decides to settle or hell freezes over first.
