The worst re-run of all

George Will outlines the coming Constitutional mess in Newsweek by detailing exactly what Bush v. Gore in 2000 will do for Bush v. Kerry in 2004.
In short, the Supreme Court ruled for Bush in 2000 because it said that selective hand counting of ballots in Florida violated the Constitution’s guarantee of “equal protection of the laws” because there was no statewide manner to effectively count every vote equally due to differences in how votes were taken from one county to the next.
In long, the ramifications of that are: there are no national laws regarding what is and what is not a vote, nor how they are tallied in the event of a “tie.” Therefore, because the Supreme Court invalidated the Florida recount lacking guarantees, it could be construed that it also invalidated all elections. Fun!
