Swing to the right, do si do!

The $388 billion budget bill that basically had to be passed for the government to keep working was passed over the weekend, with two minor additions slipped in by Republicans. One allows the chairmen of the Appropriations Committee to examine any American’s tax return. Which they say was misinterpreted, they didn’t really mean it, we’ll take that out before Wednesday, promise!
The other is a provision in the 1,000-page bill that will remain in place that tells hospitals and other medical providers that they can refuse to offer abortion or abortion counceling, termed by one Democratic senator as “nothing more than a payoff to the religious right.”
