The Knight Foundation recently sponsored a million dollar study on how today’s high school kids view the First Amendment. CNN, who used to employ Tucker Carlson, who is STILL a dick, puts it like this:
The way many high school students see it, government censorship of newspapers may not be a bad thing, and flag burning is hardly protected free speech.
If you’re unemployed, or work at a publicly held company I encourage you to read the full text of the study.
Conclusion; kids suck. (Just ask Katie Couric.)
However, just as a nut-slapping exercise, let’s take a look at the first question.
The rights guaranteed by the First Amendment: Do you “personally think about them?”Do you “take them for granted?”
Yeah, how do YOU answer that question at 15?
Furthermore, let’s look at the big picture: our schools are ridiculously under-funded, teachers get paid shit, art and music have left the building, and they have to deal with dipshit politicians trying to put “evolution is a theory” stickers on their textbooks (many of which already have a nice Slayer sticker on it thank you.) And those tax cuts you asked for, where do you think they come from?
Don’t be surprised when the public school systems that you give third-world funding to produce third-world results.
