How can you scoff and scold the marketing geniuses who provide the perfect pitch to the wanting masses. Next time you question the need for a KFC double-down, an Arby's monster burger or anything deep-fried, go sit for 5 minutes at your local state fair where obesity reigns. Yes, this is America! And there hasn't been a diet developed that will keep us from wanting the next great cheesy, fried, double-dipped taste sensation.

I quit Crapbook quite some time ago. When they first started, it was pretty much a copy pasted version of Myspace with a different name, and has been copying things from Myspace for quite a few years after.

But like most social network sites like this, it ends up being nothing more than a festival of spam. Myspace started out good, but is now completely taken over by spam bots.

Crapbook started out the same way, and look at it now...a spambot filled paradise.

Ultimately, though, we need to have respect for one another as human beings with deep feelings, and inalienable rights, and learn to support one another even over such difficult and divisive issues such as these.

Even if in the right, arguing and fighting may enable a side to win the battle for the moment, but it will cost us ourr friends and country.

Especially if we are in the right, we can afford to give our opponents the respect we would like, and enough polite rope to hang themselves with in debate.

We should not just know we are right and get stressed. We should listen to and question and ask others to show us why they are right, until they stumble over the holes and they too can see the flaws in their own ideas.

But in this mass media orientated age, propaganda is easy and many from both sides press their views with both hands.

And therefore money and power rule the debate, instead of the people and the truth.

Nevertheless we can use this same power via the internet to open debate to both ideas.

For example, in this specific case, if being gay is inborn and harmless, your ideas are (to me) correct. But if it is catching and harmful, as some believe, then they may have a point.

These two ideas cannot live in the same space (America), and so America is being divided by them.

We need to encourage a wider debate amongst one another over the internet.

The sad thing is that we cannot accommodate two ideas in the same space. So, our idea is always the 'right' one, and the other side is intolerant. And we can't tolerate that! Nor can they.

To both sides, the truth is obvious, and so the other side must be malicious, or stupid, if not both.

It's dividing America.

To re-connect, we ought to be able to engage one another in open and honest debate, instead of trying to force a win.

In fact, one of the fastest and easiest ways to persuade someone is to follow them through their own understanding with respectful questionings.

We ought to be able to have the confidence to give the other side the benefit of the doubt, for the purpose of discussion, and the cunning to assume for the moment that we are the ones in error, until our goal of exposing the flaws in the other side's ideas is achieved

A glaring indicator of change from engaged to disaffected is the ratio of readers to comments on this blog.
